On the trailof Bonaparte
In the heart of the building of the former Royal Military School, the Napoleon Museum invites you to discover the different facets of this world-famous character.
The Napoleon Museum was created following the wish of the elected representatives to pay homage to the illustrious pupil who passed through these premises.
Inaugurated in 1969 with three rooms dealing with Bonaparte's schooling in Brien and the French Campaign, the museum has changed little.
In 1995, thanks to the bequest of Monsieur Devinot, three new rooms were created: one dedicated to the works bequeathed by Monsieur Devinot, one to the Restoration period and one to the Napoleonic legend. It was also during this period that the Treasury of the Churches of the Parc de la forêt d'Orient was moved to the premises of the Napoleon Museum and the reception and ticket office was set up in the Carmelite Chapel.
In recent years, it has been desired to extend and renovate the Napoleon Museum. In addition to the obsolescence of some of the facilities, the museum no longer met the demands of the increasingly demanding public.
In May 2016, the Napoleon Museum closed its doors to carry out the renovation work. After almost two years of work, the Napoleon Museum reopened in January 2018 with a new reception, a modern scenography and renewed themes.
